PDP Gets Court's Permission To Unseat Tambuwal

Less than 24 hours after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal,raised an alarm that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is plotting to use the court to unseat him, a Federal High Court in Abuja has given permission to the PDP to declare vacant the Kebbe/Tambuwal seat being held by Tambuwal.

It would be recalled that Tambuwal had petitioned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta to recast a case filed by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Isiaq Akinlade, who is seeking an ex-parte order to declare his seat vacant, to a neutral judge.

According to Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in an ex-parte ruling on Monday, granted the PDP “leave to apply, by way of judicial review, for an order of mandamus compelling the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to give effect to the provisions of Section 68(1)(g) of the Constitution by declaring the Kebbe/Tambuwal federal Constituency seat vacant.” 

The ruling was on one of two ex-parte motions filed by the PDP pursuant to order 34 Rule 3 of the Federal High Court (Civil procedure) Rules 2009.

By the leave granted it, the PDP is now required to file a formal suit to achieve its aim.

Named as respondents in the motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/901/2014 are – Tambuwal and Emeka Ihedioha, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

On Monday, PDP’s lawyer, Mike Ahamba (SAN), while moving the motion for leave to apply for an order of mandamus, said by its action, his client only wants whoever occupies the seat of the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps to perform his/her responsibility under the Constitution.

“Section 68(2) renders section 68(1) (g) non-self-operating. Where a person defects from his party, the person can defiantly stay in the House and maintain his seat until either the Speaker or the Senate President performs his responsibilities under Section 68(2).

“We are asking the Speaker to declare the seat of Kebbe/Tambuwal Constituency vacant following the defection of the 2nd respondent (Tambuwal),” Ahamba said.

He said the PDP will also apply for “an order of injunction restraining the 2nd defendant (Tambuwal) from performing or continuing to perform the functions of the 1st respondent in the House of Representatives, or sitting or continuing to sit in the House as a member consequent upon the order of mandamus.”

It would be recalled that on 20 November, Tambuwal was locked out of the National Assembly complex by the police and later tear-gassed after he gained access into the parliament building.

FG Stops US From Training Nigerian Soldiers

The Federal Government has cancelled an agreement it had with the US for American security officials to train a Nigerian Army Battalion, this is according to a statement released on Monday the US Embassy in Abuja.

‎The statement read: “At the request of the Nigerian government, the United States will discontinue its training of a Nigerian Army battalion.” 

It was disclosed that two phases of the training had been conducted between April and August 2014, and it provided untrained civilian personnel with basic soldiering skills.

“Based on mutual assessment of the Nigerian Army and US trainers, a third iteration of training was agreed upon with the intent of developing the battalion into a unit with advanced infantry skills.

“We regret premature termination of this training, as it was to be the first in a larger planned project that would have trained additional units with the goal of helping the Nigerian Army build capacity to counter Boko Haram,” the statement added. 

The US government however, stated that it will continue other aspects of the extensive bilateral security relationship, as well as all other assistance programmes with Nigeria.

This is coming after former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, said that the US should not been seen as Nigeria’s partner in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.

Gowon, in an interview with Punch newspaper published on Sunday, 30 November, 2014, condemned the US for not selling military hardware to Nigeria to fight the Islamist militants who have been wreaking havocs across Nigeria.

The former Head of State, while taking a swipe at the United States on its refusal to sell arms to Nigeria to fight the Islamic group, stated that if the US was truly a diplomatic friend to Nigeria, it should do everything possible to keep the corporate existence of Nigeria.

Kim Kardashian Divorce: Kanye West Skips Family Thanksgiving – Kim Slams Hubby on Twitter For Dinner With Boyfriends in Paris

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce is coming and Kim’s nasty Thanksgiving Twitter message implicitly excluding Kanye from her family while he was with his boyfriends in Paris shows the marriage is on it’s last legs. Most people are with family on Thanksgiving, or they make an attempt to be with family or loved ones. Not the case with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, however, as the couple adds more fuel to the divorce rumors circulating. Not only do these two have the money and means to be together, but they are certainly able to manipulate their schedules so that they are able to make the time to share the family holiday with one another.

In fact, not only were the two apart for Thanksgiving, Kim made it very clear that Kanye is the outsider now as she quietly makes plans for a future without the rapper. Kim and North were at Khloe’s while Kanye was in his favorite place…Paris. Kim tweeted, “Happy Thanksgiving! I’m so thankful to have spent the day with my whole family over at Khloe’s house today! Khloe cooked so much yummy food!” Notice the words “whole family” in that post? No mention of her missing hubby, then a very clear point made about who Kim considers her family. I guess that whole Kanye/daughter/marriage thing doesn’t constitute a “family” in Kim’s eyes. Kim knew she was sending a very clear message to fans when sending that tweet.

It wasn’t just Kim who made the decision to be apart. Kanye has been complaining about Kris nonstop to Kim and she cannot take much more. He criticizes Kim for still letting Kris Jenner run the show, claiming she has too much power. Kim needs Kris in her corner, however, because Kris will help with damage control after the divorce. Kanye wasn’t too excited about being with Kris and the family, so he went to his favorite retreat—Paris—to be with friends. No concert, no paid obligation. He was eating dinner in a restaurant with friends in Paris on Thanksgiving. Of course, if the couple has the means to fly to one another to be together if they’d have wanted to, but that simply was not the case. Kim didn’t want to be in Paris and was not willing to budge. Kanye, on the other hand, purposely fled to Paris after learning of Kim kardashian’s dalliances in Dubai after being caught with Tyrese Gibson. He didn’t want to be around and insisted he wanted some space. Though he though Kim may follow, she opted to stay with her “whole family.”

While the “friends” Kanye shared the special holiday with have not been disclosed, many believe one guest in attendance was Kanye’s reported secret lover, designer Riccardo Tisci. Kanye has long battled rumors of being gay and having had a sexual relationship with Tisci. The fact that the two wore matching shirts to Tisci’s recent 40thbirthday party, may be another telling sign that the two are a little too close for comfort. How many heterosexual men do you know who plan to wear matching shirts to a birthday party? A little odd.

After the Kim and Tyrese encounter, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian each talking to their exes,  Kim’s visit to divorce attorney Laura Wasser, and now spending Thanksgiving apart—it is only a matter of time before these two split for good.
